Career Development

Building Acumen and Professional Skills

Earning your law degree unlocks the door to an elite, rewarding career that can continue to expand and advance throughout your life.

However, no promising career launches by default. Finding your best path among the many opportunities that will open to you takes focus, determination, networking, skill-building, and more — all of which Arizona Law provides through our Career Development Office.

Career Exploration

A key part of our mission is to help 1Ls better understand their future career options and opportunities, with workshops, panels, and guest speakers throughout the year addressing topics such as “Perspectives on Practice Settings,” “Careers in Immigration Law,” “Introduction to Clerking for a Judge after Graduation,” and many more.

Professional Preparation and Development

In addition to helping you define your professional goals and connect with potential employers, Arizona Law helps you develop the skills and materials you’ll need as you build towards your graduation and career. One-on-one meetings to polish your resume and cover letters, mock interviews with attorneys and workshops on topics such as “Core Competencies in the Workplace” and “Preparing to Take a State Bar Exam” will help you put your best foot forward at every step of your developing education and career.

First-Year Summer Employment

Arizona Law has one of the highest rates of first-year summer employment among law programs nationwide, with 90 percent of 1Ls engaged in legal clerkships and internships over the past seven years. Through on-campus and video interviews with law firms, government agencies, public interest organizations, state and federal judges, and corporate in-house counsel, our goal is to prepare as many students as possible for 2L fall recruiting by connecting them with challenging 1L summer employment.
